The New Ford Escape Powertrain

Three Capable & Efficient Engines Built for Michigan

The new Ford Escape comes with your choice of three capable engines. First up, the 2.5L features independent variable cam timing (iVCT) provides just the right balance of power and efficiency. Whether you’re cruising 131 on your way up north or running errands around town, the engine will adjust itself to suit.

The standard engine of the Ford Escape SE and Titanium is the highly-efficient 1.5L EcoBoost iVCT. Don’t be fooled by the low displacement – this spirited engine makes clever use of turbocharging and direct injection to work smarter and not harder. It also features Auto Start-Stop Technology to reduce emissions, improve gas mileage, and keep Michigan beautiful for future generations of adventurers.

If you want a bit more “oomph” for your travels around Michigan or if you need to up your towing capability, you can opt for the 2.0L EcoBoost engine in your new Ford Escape. This engine’s twin-scroll turbocharger has two chambers and a pair of exhaust runners that work alternating shifts, delivering torque on demand with drastically reduced “turbo-lag.” Pair this with the Class II Tow Package and your new Ford Escape will be able to tow up to 3,500 lbs. The 2.0L EcoBoost engine also features the Auto Start-Stop Technology mentioned above.

One Versatile Transmission That’s Ready For Adventure

Wherever the road takes you in your new Ford Escape, you can go confidently knowing there is a highly-advanced and capable transmission that’s prepared for anything. During sunny days on the open road, the 6-Speed SelectShift transmission may be put into Sport Mode, which lets you bypass the automatic operation and enjoy the sporty feel of a manual. The new Ford Escape with EcoBoost also features race-inspired paddle shifters mounted on just behind the steering wheel.

When you’re approaching a curve a little too fast, the standard Curve Control system can help slow you down and then transfer torque to the wheels that have the best grip, and it doesn’t matter if the pavement is wet or dry. The system helps you maintain control by reducing understeer and forcing the front end to hug the inside of the curve. AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control is also a standard feature and utilizes two gyroscopic sensors to monitor yaw and roll rates. This helps you maintain control of your Ford Escape whenever it detects wheel slip, understeer, oversteer or a rolling motion. It also helps maintain control in various road conditions such as ice, gravel or rain.

This advanced four-wheel drive system checks the traction and road conditions every 16 milliseconds. The New Ford Escape Safety Features

The 2017 Escape has earned the Overall 5-Star Crash Safety Rating by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). This is owed to features that help you maintain control, as well as help protect you in the event of an accident.

Get new Ford SYNC 3 features with version 2.2

Borgman Ford is pleased to share that Ford drivers in Grand Rapids and West Michigan can now download the latest version of Ford SYNC 3. This update is available for Ford SYNC 3 vehicles 2016 or newer and comes with full support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. These two suites bring the full power of your favorite Apple or Google apps into your Ford vehicle, with an interface that’s similar to your device and optimizations for keeping your hands on the wheel and eyes on the road.

The most exciting part of this update is that it’s the first one that may be installed via WiFi connection. If you prefer not to drive over to Borgman or use a flash drive to install software updates, Ford vehicles with WiFi connectivity can set up automatic SYNC 3 updates using their home WiFi network. The process happens completely in the “background” and once it’s set up, you don’t have to do anything else.

Ford is making Android Auto and Apple CarPlay software support available to model-year 2016 vehicles equipped with SYNC 3. Customers with model-year 2016 Ford vehicles can update to the new SYNC 3 version 2.2 by downloading to a USB drive, visiting a dealership or automatically through a Wi-Fi connection.

“Our SYNC 3 software platform was designed to be easy to update so we can get our customers the latest and greatest features, functionally and security enhancements,” said Don Butler, executive director, Ford Connected Vehicle and Services. “With over-the-air updates, we can deliver new features to customers in the background while they continue using their vehicles.”

Customers can update their software by visiting owner.ford.com to download and install with a USB drive, or by visiting a dealership. Customers with Wi-Fi-enabled vehicles and a Wi-Fi network can set up their vehicle to receive the update automatically.

New & improved Ford F-650 & F-750 Medium Duty Trucks: coming soon to Borgman Commercial in Grand Rapids, MI

When there’s an exceptionally tough job that needs doing in Grand Rapids or West Michigan, people come to Borgman Ford Commercial looking for Ford Medium Duty trucks. The Ford F-650 and F-750 are the biggest trucks that Ford makes, and they’re getting even tougher this year with some new upgrades and features.

For the 2018 model-year, Ford is adding new features to the toughest of Ford Tough, based primarily on customer feedback. These upgrades include new standard electronic stability control and traction control brakes, available high-output 240-amp alternator, and more!

“Customers are moving from other brands to Ford F-650 and F-750 medium-duty trucks because they’re affordable and Built Ford Tough in America,” says Kevin Koester, Ford medium-duty truck and Super Duty fleet marketing manager. “Our segment-exclusive gasoline engine is appealing to fleet managers who recognize not every duty cycle requires the torque of a diesel engine, and who prefer the cost and maintenance advantages of gasoline power.

“The success of our new truck design is apparent from our growing sales and the fact it was named Medium-Duty Truck of the Year by Work Truck magazine in 2016 and 2017,” adds Koester. “For 2018, we’re enhancing this successful platform based on customer feedback.”

Electronic stability control and traction control brakes are now standard on all 2018 F-650 and F-750 tractor models. The system will initially be optional on certain F-750 diesel air-braked straight trucks with high-center-of-gravity-body upfits.

For applications with high electrical demands – such as tow trucks, road service vehicles and other well-lit work trucks – a high-output 240-amp alternator is now available with the 6.8-liter V10 gasoline powertrain. Ordering the higher output alternator to power auxiliary lights and equipment can eliminate the need to specify a second alternator or generator.

Ford offers an optional automatic regeneration inhibitor on 2018 diesel trucks to give the operator more control over when the engine goes into regeneration to clean the diesel particulate filter.

Borgman Ford has some exciting news for West Michigan Ford Mustang fans! Ford has just announced that the Ford Shelby GT350 and the Ford Shelby GT350R will be coming back again for 2018! This track-ready and street legal Mustang will feature the same great 5.2-liter V8, 526 horsepower engine as last year, and will give you three additional exterior colors to choose from.

The most track-capable, street legal Mustang ever built is back for another lap.

Ford Motor Company announces Shelby® GT350 and Shelby GT350R Mustang will continue for 2018, available in showrooms this fall. The new models will be unchanged from the 2017 versions, with the exception of three new exterior color choices, Orange Fury, Kona Blue and Lead Foot Gray.

Standard equipment carrying over to the 2018 Shelby GT350 and GT350R Mustang includes the incredible 5.2-liter V8 FPC engine which produces 526 horsepower and 429 lb.-ft. of torque, as well as engine oil, transmission and differential coolers to keep the car properly cooled while on the track. In addition, a no-compromise braking system with vented 15.5-inch two-piece front rotors and six-piston Brembo® calipers along with the MagneRide™ damping system round out the standard equipment to produce the most balanced Mustang ever.

Borgman Ford can’t wait for the All-New 2018 Ford EcoBoost to arrive in Grand Rapids and West Michigan next year. This spring, however, eagle-eyed fans can catch a glimpse of the new SUV when it makes an appearance in Marvel Studios’ upcoming film, “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2”!

You don’t have to be Groot to go small and live big. Ford’s all-new EcoSport – the fun, capable and connected compact SUV – brings personality to the big screen as the official vehicle of Marvel Studios’ “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.”

“EcoSport is our smallest SUV, designed for active customers who need a compact, connected vehicle that enables richer experiences with family and friends,” said Chantel Lenard, executive director, Ford U.S. marketing. “Teaming up with Marvel is a perfect way to share how EcoSport turns every drive into a chance to live big, enabling our Earth-bound customers to experience as many adventures as ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ offers.”

EcoSport joins Ford’s best-selling SUV lineup. Packed with personality, customers can choose either the award-winning, 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbocharged EcoBoost® or 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. SYNC® 3, a floating 8-inch touch screen and Wi-Fi hotspot are available, as well as SYNC Connect. The technology gives FordPass® members remote access to their EcoSport from their mobile device – including the ability to start, lock, unlock and locate it from almost anywhere on Earth.

Recently, Ford has revealed some features of the upcoming 2018 Ford Explorer to look forward to, including built-in 4G, SYNC Connect, and the new Safe & Smart technology package!

This article published in the Official Ford Media Center reveals more about the available tech and other fun features available in the upcoming 2018 Ford Explorer. Here are a few excerpts from the article:

For 2018, Explorer has been further upgraded, providing customers freshened front and rear styling details, even better technology and more choice. Explorer offers an available 4G embedded modem that includes a Wi-Fi hotspot and supports as many as 10 devices at once – up to 50 feet away from the vehicle.

It also features SYNC Connect, which allows owners to connect with Explorer remotely using FordPass® to start, lock, unlock and locate their vehicle from almost anywhere – while also allowing access to important vehicle diagnostic information.

This technology joins such existing features as enhanced active park assist, which uses ultrasonic sensors and electric power-assisted steering to help drivers with parallel and perpendicular parking; park-out assist, which helps drivers pull out of parallel parking spots; and intelligent all-wheel drive with Terrain Management System™, which enables improved driving capability by sending power where needed.

For 2018, Explorer also offers a newly available Safe and Smart Package that combines high-demand driver-assist features for a great value. The package includes:

• Adaptive cruise control and collision warning with brake support uses radar to detect moving vehicles directly ahead, and changes cruising speed if necessary
• Blind Spot Information System uses radar to trigger a warning when another motorist is in the driver’s blind spot
• Cross-traffic alert uses radar to help alert drivers to oncoming traffic when backing out of a parking space
• Lane-keeping system automatically detects left- and right-hand road lane markings using front camera system. A vibration in the steering wheel alerts the driver if the vehicle begins to drift out of its lane. System can also provide steering torque to help guide the vehicle back into the lane if needed
• Auto high-beams use windshield-mounted cameras to automatically switch between high-beam and low-beam settings when oncoming traffic is detected
• Rain-sensing wipers
